Can every PDF be repaired?

No. If the page content itself is missing (for example the file is truncated at 30 %), those pages cannot be restored. Index and structure errors, which are the most common, are usually fixed.

How do I know if my PDF is corrupt?

Typical symptoms: “There was an error opening this document”, blank pages, a viewer that hangs, or a file size that is smaller than expected.

Is the repaired file identical?

The visible content is the same where it could be recovered. The internal structure is rewritten, which can also make the file smaller.

About Repair PDF

A PDF is a database of objects with an index at the end. Interrupted downloads, full disks and buggy generators corrupt that index while the pages themselves are usually intact — rebuilding the index is often all that is needed.

The parser skips objects it cannot read instead of giving up, so intact pages become usable again. When a file is too damaged for the browser parser, the tool says so rather than producing a broken result.
