My statement has no table lines — will it work?

Usually yes. Column positions are inferred from the text alignment. Check the totals afterwards; merged cells and wrapped descriptions are the usual culprits when something is off.

Are numbers converted to real numbers?

Yes, values that look like numbers (including thousands separators and negative signs in parentheses) are stored as numeric cells so formulas work. Dates are kept as text to avoid locale mistakes.

Can it handle a 100-page report?

Yes. Each detected table becomes a sheet; very large documents may take a minute.

Why convert PDF to Excel (XLSX)

Copying a table from a PDF viewer usually produces one long column or cells run together. A converter that measures where text sits on the page rebuilds the grid, so numbers land in the right cells and can be summed straight away.

Two detection strategies are used: ruled tables (visible lines) and whitespace-aligned tables (no lines, as in most statements). Each table becomes its own sheet, and the original page number is noted.
