About CalcBrew

Who is behind CalcBrew
CalcBrew is built and run by Miikka, an independent developer in Finland, as the English-language edition of Nopealaskuri.fi, which has served Finnish users since 2024. There is no company behind it and no editorial team: one person writes the formulas, the explanations and the code, which is why every page shows its working and links to its sources. Updates are listed on each tool page (“Updated” under the title), and corrections are published as soon as a reader reports them.
How the tools are built and checked
- Formulas come from primary sources — tax authorities, statutes, standards bodies and peer-reviewed formulas — and the source is named on the page. Where a rule changes yearly, the year in use is stated.
- Every calculator has automated tests with known inputs and expected outputs, and the whole site is rebuilt and re-tested before each release. Unit conversions are checked against reference tables.
- Game and software tools are verified against the real thing. The CS2 crosshair converter, for example, was calibrated by measuring the game’s rendering pixel by pixel and by decoding the game’s own share codes, not by guessing.
- Nothing you type is uploaded. Calculations and file conversions run in your browser. The only data we collect is anonymous traffic statistics, described in the privacy policy.
- Mistakes get fixed. If a result looks wrong, use the contact form with the tool name and your inputs; reported errors are corrected and the fix is noted on the page.
⚠️ Disclaimer
CalcBrew provides calculators for informational purposes only. The results given by the calculators may be incorrect, outdated, or inaccurate depending on your situation. We are not responsible for the consequences of decisions made based on the information provided by the calculators.
Always verify important calculations — such as taxes, loans, pensions, or health-related estimates — with an appropriate professional or authoritative source (Finnish Tax Administration, Kela, FIN-FSA, etc.).
What is CalcBrew?
CalcBrew is the English-language site of Nopealaskuri.fi, a Finnish web service that provides over 300 free calculators, converters and generators for everyday needs. The calculators cover salary and tax calculations, loans, health, sports, savings, construction and budgeting, among other things. The service is available in three languages: Finnish, English and Swedish.
The service is completely free and requires no registration. All calculations run in your browser — your data never leaves your device.
Accuracy of the calculators
- Tax and salary calculators are based on publicly available tax tables and percentages. Actual taxes depend on individual factors such as the withholding percentage on your tax card.
- Loan calculators produce approximate values. The actual loan offer depends on the bank, credit rating and other factors.
- Health and fitness calculators (BMI, calories, heart rate) are indicative only. Consult a doctor before making significant changes to your diet or exercise routine.
- Currency converter uses approximate rates — not real-time. Check up-to-date rates from your bank or the ECB.
- Blood alcohol calculator is indicative only. Never drive under the influence of alcohol.
Sources and methodology
The calculators are based on the following sources:
- Public tax tables and instructions from the Finnish Tax Administration
- Kela benefit tables (unemployment allowance, student grant, parental benefit)
- Finnish Annual Holidays Act (162/2005)
- WHS Golf Handicap System (R&A / USGA)
- Harris-Benedict BMR formula (calorie needs)
- Widmark formula (blood alcohol calculator)
- Kelly criterion (betting calculator)
