PNG to JPG

A photo saved as PNG is far larger than it needs to be. Convert it to JPG for email, uploads and websites and choose what transparent areas become.

Runs in your browser β€” files never leave your device.

Higher quality means a larger file. 80–90 is invisible in most photos.

Why convert PNG to JPG

PNG is lossless, which is right for screenshots and logos but wasteful for photos: a 24-megapixel photo is 40 MB as PNG and 4 MB as a visually identical JPG. Many sites also cap uploads at a few megabytes.

JPG has no transparency, so transparent regions are flattened onto a colour you choose. For images with text or sharp lines consider keeping PNG or using WebP, which handles both.

How it works

  1. Drop PNG file onto the box above, click it to browse, or paste from the clipboard.
  2. Adjust the options if you need to β€” the defaults suit most cases.
  3. Press Convert. The work happens on your device, so speed depends on your computer or phone.
  4. Download the JPG β€” individually or all at once.

About the formats

PNG Β· Portable Network Graphics Β· .png

Lossless image format with transparency, ideal for screenshots, logos, icons and graphics with sharp edges or text.

  • PNG is lossless: every pixel is preserved, which is why photos saved as PNG are 5–10Γ— larger than JPG.
  • Supports an 8-bit alpha channel, so edges can be partially transparent.
  • Most browsers and apps have supported PNG since the late 1990s.

JPG Β· JPEG image Β· .jpg

The universal photo format: small files, supported by every device, camera and website, but no transparency and slight quality loss on each save.

  • JPEG compression discards fine detail the eye rarely notices; quality 80–90 is usually indistinguishable from the original at a fraction of the size.
  • Re-saving a JPG repeatedly adds generation loss, so keep an original and export copies.
  • JPG has no alpha channel β€” transparent areas become white or black when converted from PNG.
