About Crop Image

Every platform wants a different shape: square profile pictures, 4:5 feed posts, 16:9 covers, 35 × 45 mm passport photos. Cropping precisely to the ratio avoids automatic crops that cut off heads.

The crop is applied to the original pixels, so nothing is resampled or recompressed except a final encode; combine with Resize Image to hit exact dimensions afterwards.

How it works

  1. Drop your files onto the box above, click it to browse, or paste from the clipboard.
  2. Adjust the options if you need to — the defaults suit most cases.
  3. Press Convert. The work happens on your device, so speed depends on your computer or phone.
  4. Download the result — individually or all at once.

About the formats

JPG · JPEG image · .jpg

The universal photo format: small files, supported by every device, camera and website, but no transparency and slight quality loss on each save.

  • JPEG compression discards fine detail the eye rarely notices; quality 80–90 is usually indistinguishable from the original at a fraction of the size.
  • Re-saving a JPG repeatedly adds generation loss, so keep an original and export copies.
  • JPG has no alpha channel — transparent areas become white or black when converted from PNG.

PNG · Portable Network Graphics · .png

Lossless image format with transparency, ideal for screenshots, logos, icons and graphics with sharp edges or text.

  • PNG is lossless: every pixel is preserved, which is why photos saved as PNG are 5–10× larger than JPG.
  • Supports an 8-bit alpha channel, so edges can be partially transparent.
  • Most browsers and apps have supported PNG since the late 1990s.

WebP · WebP image · .webp

Google’s web image format: 25–35 % smaller than JPG at the same quality, supports transparency and animation, but not every desktop app can open it.

  • WebP has both lossy and lossless modes, and both support transparency.
  • All modern browsers support WebP; older image editors, Windows Photos before 2020 and many print workflows do not.
  • Right-clicking and saving an image from a website often gives you a WebP file even if the page shows a JPG.

HEIC · High Efficiency Image Container · .heic

The default photo format on iPhone and iPad since iOS 11: about half the size of JPG at the same quality, but poorly supported outside Apple devices.

  • HEIC stores images with the HEVC (H.265) codec; a container can hold several images, such as a Live Photo or burst.
  • Windows needs a paid HEVC extension to open HEIC files, and many websites and forms refuse them.
  • iPhone can be set to shoot JPG instead: Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible.
