How the 30 % fee works
Every in-experience purchase is split at the moment of sale: you receive = price × 0.7, rounded down, and the remainder is Roblox’s marketplace fee. The fee funds hosting, moderation and payment processing, and it applies to every creator regardless of size. Because it is taken in Robux, it compounds with the DevEx rate when you cash out: a player’s $9.99 buys about 1,000 Robux, a 1,000 R$ pass nets you 700 R$, and 700 R$ is worth $2.66 at the standard DevEx rate.
Pricing tip: players see round numbers, so creators usually pick the price first and accept the odd net figure. If a target net matters (splitting revenue with a collaborator, say), price at target ÷ 0.7 rounded up — the table above lists the common ones.
The community name for Roblox’s 30 % marketplace fee. When a player buys your game pass, developer product or private server, Roblox keeps 30 % of the Robux and credits you 70 %, rounded down to a whole Robux. A 100 R$ pass pays you 70 R$; a 25 R$ pass pays 17 R$. It is a platform fee, not a government tax, and it applies before any DevEx cash-out.
Divide the amount you want by 0.7 and round up. To receive 100 R$ you must charge 143 R$ (143 × 0.7 = 100.1 → 100). To receive 1,000 R$, charge 1,429 R$. Use the “I want to receive” mode above for any figure.
Yes. For accessories, clothing and bodies sold in the Marketplace the creator receives 30 % at the price floor, rising on a sliding scale to about 70 % when the item is priced five times the floor or more. When an avatar item is bought inside a game, the creator gets 30 %, the game owner 40 % and Roblox 30 %. Limited-item resales split 50 % reseller, 10 % original creator, 10 % affiliate, 30 % Roblox.
Before. A 1,000 R$ sale becomes 700 earned Robux in your account; those 700 R$ later cash out through DevEx at $0.0038 each, or $2.66. End to end Roblox keeps roughly three quarters of what the player paid, which is why creators think in earned Robux rather than list prices.
Robux cannot be sent between players directly. The usual workaround, buying a friend’s game pass or shirt, is taxed like any other sale: 30 % disappears and they receive 70 %. Group payouts move earned Robux between a group and its members without a fee, but the Robux must already be in the group’s funds.
