The shoe size converter turns a familiar EU size into US and UK sizes and estimates the foot length in centimetres. It's handy when you order shoes from a foreign online store and don't know their sizing.
How the calculator works and what it’s for▾
How the conversion works
Different countries measure shoe sizes on different scales, so the same foot gets a different number depending on the system. The converter translates an EU size into the matching US and UK numbers and estimates the foot length each size typically corresponds to.
Because manufacturer sizing varies, it's worth confirming the final fit by foot length too.
What you enter and what you get
You enter your familiar EU size and choose the sizing. The result shows the matching US and UK size plus an estimate of the foot length in centimetres.
Foot length is useful extra information, as it's a more reliable way to confirm fit than conversion tables alone.
Who and when
The converter helps with online shopping, especially from American and British stores that list sizes as US or UK numbers. It saves returns when you can order the right size straight away.
It is also useful when travelling or buying gifts, when you only know someone's size in one system.
Tip for an accurate size
Measure your foot length in the evening, when the foot is slightly swollen, and leave a few millimetres of room in front of the toes. Compare the measured length with the estimate the calculator gives.
Remember that conversions are approximate and don't replace trying shoes on. Shoes of the same number can fit differently from one brand to another.
