Random Team Generator

How the split works β and why it's fair
The generator uses the same two-step method a good referee would use with a hat full of names. First the entire list is shuffled into a random order, so any name is equally likely to be anywhere in the line. Then names are dealt round-robin β one to Team 1, one to Team 2, and so on, looping back until the list runs out. The shuffle removes any bias from the order you typed the names in, and the round-robin deal keeps team sizes as even as mathematically possible.
That combination means nobody can claim the teams were rigged: the order friends were entered, alphabetical position, or being last on the list makes no difference to where anyone lands.
Classroom, sports, and office use
Teachers use random teams for group projects and lab partners because it breaks up cliques and gives every student a fresh mix β switch to Players per team mode and set the group size your activity needs. Coaches use Number of teams mode for scrimmages: two even sides from whoever showed up to practice. At work, random teams keep trivia nights, hackathons, and icebreakers from turning into the same friend groups every time. The fun team names toggle gives each group an instant identity β great for younger kids and team-building events.
Need to pick just one person instead of whole teams? Use the random name picker or spin the wheel spinner. For deciding which team goes first, a quick dice roll or a random number settles it fast.
Handling uneven groups
Groups rarely divide perfectly, and that's fine. With 11 players in 3 teams the generator produces 4-4-3, spreading the extra players one per team from the front. If an exactly even matchup matters β say a 5-on-5 game with 11 players β the standard fix is to make the extra player a rotating substitute, referee, or scorekeeper, and re-shuffle each round so the same person doesn't sit out twice.
