Types
A Pokémon matches if it has at least one of the selected types.
What a random Pokémon is good for
- Challenge runs. Roll six and play a game using only those species, or roll one as your forced starter. Set a single type for a monotype run, or a single generation to stay inside one game’s Pokédex. For a Nuzlocke-style run, roll a new one each time a team member faints.
- Drawing prompts. One random Pokémon a day is a classic sketch challenge. Roll two and draw a fusion, or roll with the nature option on and draw it with that personality.
- Team ideas. Lock the two or three Pokémon you already want and re-roll the remaining slots until the shared-weakness summary looks healthy.
- Games with friends. Everyone rolls a team and battles with it, or one person rolls and the others guess the types, which is what the Pokémon quiz does in its second mode.
How the randomness works
Nothing is drawn until you press the button. The generator then builds the pool from your filters and picks an index with the browser’s cryptographic random source rather than an ordinary pseudo-random function. Raw values that fall outside an even multiple of the pool size are thrown away and drawn again, so every Pokémon in the pool is equally likely. With “No duplicates” on, a picked species is removed from the pool before the next slot is drawn.
That makes the odds easy to state: with no filters, a specific species shows up in a team of six about once in 171 rolls (6 ÷ 1,025). Random natures are drawn the same way from the 25 natures, 20 of which raise one stat by 10% and lower another, while 5 are neutral.
How many Pokémon each type filter leaves
Dual-type Pokémon count for both of their types, so the numbers add up to more than 1,025.

From a random team to a working team
A random six is rarely balanced. The summary under the result lists the attacking types that hit two or more of your Pokémon super effectively, and flags the ones nobody on the team resists. Open the team in the Pokémon type chart and weakness calculator to see the full table of weaknesses, resistances and immunities, swap a slot and watch the gaps close.
