Carbon Footprint Calculator

How the footprint is calculated

The tool converts your driving kilometres, flight hours, meat consumption, and home size into estimated emissions and adds them into an annual footprint in tonnes of CO₂. It then compares the figure to the average as a percentage.

The result splits into three areas, so you can clearly see whether your footprint leans toward transport, food, or housing.

What you enter and what you get

You enter your annual driving in kilometres, flights in hours, your level of meat consumption, and the size of your home in square metres.

You get emissions broken down for transport, food, and housing, the total emissions, and a comparison with a reference average of about 10 tonnes.

What to do with the result

The calculator suits anyone who wants to understand the climate impact of their lifestyle and find the most effective ways to reduce it. Once you see where the emissions come from, you can target changes where they matter most.

Good to know

The average American carbon footprint is roughly 14–16 tonnes of CO₂ a year, and climate targets suggest it should fall below 2.5 tonnes. The biggest impacts come from flying, driving, and eating meat.

The estimate is indicative and based on average emission factors, so an individual's real figure may differ somewhat.
